Those unfamiliar with the World of Darkness or Vampire: the Masquerade are introduced to setting through the eyes of a mortal attempting to unravel her family's dark past. this is something that would likely closely to the thoughts of real people in the period with in a city that has had a number of major fires over the years (including the burning of parliament just before the start of Victorias reign). There's also sections on the Victorian-era geography and political situations that provides a wealth of ideas for not only character generation, but weaving your story into the larger backdrop of the mortal world.I'd also highly recommend the Companion and London By Night. The entire household had degenerated into a macabre fiefdom where the servants were now in charge. I am thinking this will be very useful for delineating domains and the like for the city in my chronicle. I also loved how it built into some of the metaplot, but at the same time doesn't really revolve around it too much.
